Tiger Woods and his Sun Day Red brand are facing a lawsuit from Puma. According to Golf Digest, Puma filed a notice of opposition to the logo of Woods’ new fashion line last week. It said the Sun Day Red logo is too similar to the logo Puma has used since 1969.

“Due to the confusing similarity of the marks and the identical, legally identical, or closely related nature of the goods and services of the parties, consumer confusion is likely between the Challenged Marks and the Leaping Cat logo,” Puma said in the filing.

Sun Day Red was launched by Woods and TaylorMade in May. Per its official website, Sun Day Red is “for those who lead active lifestyles and seek elevated attire that can be worn on the course, at the gym, in the office, and everywhere their busy lives take them.”

Woods unveiled the creation of Sun Day Red in February after announcing that his 27-year association with Nike has ended. “It’s the right time in my life,” Woods said at the launch event at the time, per ESPN. “It’s transitional. I’m no longer a kid anymore. Life changes, I have kids now, and this is an important part of transitioning into this part of my life, to have a product and a brand that I’m proud of.”

“I have learned so much over the years and have a lifetime of experience adjusting my apparel and footwear to help me play better based on the way it was constructed,” Woods said in a news release. “There are things that I could tell you that no one knew I was doing over the years. I’m ready to share those secrets with the world.”

The lawsuit from Puma comes after another company, Tigeraire, filed a lawsuit in September, contending the Sun Day Red logo “unlawfully hijacked” the design of its branding. Woods’ legal team responded by saying Tigeraire was “attempting to extract an unwarranted financial windfall from a larger and more successful brand.”

While Woods deals with legal battles, he witnessed history on Tuesday as the TGL (TMRW Golf League) made its debut at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Woods founded the league with Rory McIlroy and sports executive Mike McCarley in partnership with the PGA Tour.
