The Tennessee Titans are making a surprising decision at quarterback on Thursday, choosing to start former Tennessee star Josh Dobbs against the Dallas Cowboys.

Ahead of the Thursday Night Football showdown, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero took to Twitter to reveal the news.

“The #Titans are expected to start Josh Dobbs at QB tonight, as @JustinM_NFL said,” tweeted Pelissero. “A onetime University of Tennessee standout, Dobbs signed off the #Lions practice squad last week and now will be making his first NFL start.”

As Pelissero mentioned, Dobbs was signed off the Detroit Lions practice squad just last week, and now he’s making a start for the Titans. It’s a fascinating turn of events, but Dobbs will try take the opportunity and run with it.

In his NFL career, Dobbs has seen sporadic action, mostly with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’s completed 10-of-17 pass attempts, amassing 45 yards and an interception.

Titans running back Derrick Henry ruled doubtful vs Dallas Cowboys, point spread moves

Losing Derrick Henry would be quite a blow for the Tennessee Titans Thursday against the Dallas Cowboys. It’s also having an impact on the spread for the game.

The Cowboys are now favored by 12 points after the Titans announced Henry is doubtful for the Thursday Night Football showdown. That’s nearly a three-point swing from the original 9.5-point spread.

Henry is a key part of the Tennessee offense and has put together another impressive year in 2022. He has rushed for 1,429 yards and 13 touchdowns in 15 games for the Titans, who bring a 7-8 record into the matchup against the Cowboys.

Dallas is looking to build off last week’s thrilling victory over the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles, which came down to the wire. Two Brett Maher field goals in the final minutes proved to be the difference as the Cowboys came away with the 40-34 win.
