Titans GM Mike Borgonzi gives potential hint at drafting Cam Ward

The Tennessee Titans hold the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft and Cam Ward could end up being the selection. Ward is considered the top quarterback prospect in the class.
Titans GM Mike Borgonzi, head coach Brian Callahan and the Tennessee brass have been wooed by the Miami QB. In addition to attending his pro day, they’ve taken him to dinner and had a private workout with him, according to Pro Football Talk.
Initially, the Titans were a popular choice to trade their pick, but it seems like Ward might be suiting up in Nashville for years to come. Borgonzi had some interesting comments when it comes to using the pick on a franchise quarterback, perhaps it’ll be Ward.
“I was taught over the years, if you find the quarterback that you want, and you think he’s a franchise quarterback, then you’re not going to pass on him,” Borgonzi said, via Paul Kuharsky of paulkuharsky.com. “I think anytime you can find a quarterback that can lift your football team and that you feel is the caliber of player you’re talking about, those guys are worth more. There is really no price on those guys.”
If there’s no price on “those guys,” which could mean Ward, then the Titans are likely keeping that top selection. The former Hurricane is seen as a franchise changing talent.

He continually got better at the collegiate level, starting at Incarnate Word, then Washington State and finally Miami. This past season, Ward lit the world on fire with 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 67.2% completion percentage.
“We’re getting closer to this decision,” Borgonzi said. The draft is now less than a month away.
The Titans might have to turn down some massive deals for the No. 1 pick. ESPN’s Adam Schefter hinted at the possibility of teams moving up for top selection to take Ward.
“Well, I think that (Cleveland) would have been interested in Russell Wilson. I think, to start with the Giants here. The Giants signed Russell Wilson. He’s expected to be their starter. The Browns have DeShaun Watson and Kenny Pickett on their roster,” explained Schefter. “We’ll see if (the Browns) decide to go quarterback at two. I think they’ll be interested in moving up to No. 1 but I don’t know if they’re going to be able to get up to No. 1. So, that leaves a question with the Cleveland Browns at No. 2 in this upcoming draft.”
“Basically, (the Browns) have got to come up with another way to do this. And so there are questions at two with Cleveland, at three with the New York Giants and they’re all tied to No. 1,” Schefter continued. “We see the Giants make the move for Russell Wilson. The Browns had some interest in making that move. They have Deshaun Watson under contract. They’re financially obligated to him. They obviously traded for Kenny Pickett. They’ll still add another veteran but the question is whether they can get up to No. 1 and that’s really the whole issue with No. 2 and No. 3.”
