A ball boy was injured during the Tennessee Titans home game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday and had to be carted off the field with an apparent lower body injury.

Titans quarterback Will Levis was pushed out of bounds by Colts defensive back Jaylon Jones while scrambling for a first down late in the first quarter. He collided with the ball boy who appeared to immediately grab his knee.

Athletic training staff tended to the injured ball boy, and eventually had his leg placed into an air cast before he was carted off the field. The ball boy’s status has not been revealed as of this report.

Levis also took a tumble, which Titans fans may have been weary of after their second-year quarterback missed time at practice this week with an injury to his throwing shoulder.

The Kentucky product was injured in the first quarter of the Titans win over the Miami Dolphins last week.

Levis did not return to the game and backup QB Mason Rudolph led the Titans to their first win of the season. In the win, Rudolph completed 9-of-his-17 pass attempts for 85 yards. He did not throw a touchdown or interception.

However, just because of the Titans slow start to the season does not mean this change was anything except forced by injury.

“If Will is healthy, he’s our quarterback,” head coach Brian Callahan said. “It was not a decision based on anything other than his health and protecting him, particularly with the bye week. The shoulder didn’t feel great.

“I didn’t want to put him back out there, and I knew I was gonna run the ball quite a bit, so that was really what factored in. But he’s our starter when he’s healthy and we’re ready to roll with him.”

With Levis back in the lineup for Week 6, they’ll look to get the better of the Colts on their home turf. Tied at 10 at the halftime break, the game is airing live on CBS.
