TJ Watt, George Pickens injury update: Pittsburgh Steelers reveal Wednesday status ahead of Ravens game
The Pittsburgh Steelers released their Wednesday injury report ahead of their Week 16 game against the Baltimore Ravens and updated the statuses of LB TJ Watt and WR George Pickens. After suffering an ankle injury this past weekend, Watt was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice. For Pickens, he did not participate in practice due to a hamstring injury.
The other players on the Steelers’ injury report are QB Justin Fields (hamstring, DNP), LB Patrick Queen (resting, non-injury related), S DeShon Elliott (back, DNP), CB Donte Jackson (back, DNP), LB Elandon Roberts (resting, NIR), DT Cameron Heyward (resting, NIR) and DT Larry Ogunjobi (groin, limited). The Steelers announced the players had a walkthrough practice on Wednesday.
Not having Watt on Sunday would be huge for the Steelers who are one game ahead of the Ravens for the AFC North lead. Through 14 games this year, the six-time Pro Bowler has registered 54 tackles, an NFL-leading 18 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks and a league-leading six forced fumbles.
“If he plays, he plays,” Queen said, per Steelers.com. “If he doesn’t, he doesn’t. Would I love T.J. out there, heck yeah. Who wouldn’t? “But we’ve got Herbs (Nick Herbig), Alex (Highsmith), Preston (Smith), (Jeremiah) Moon. Whoever goes out there, we have the utmost confidence in them to go out and get the job done.”

More on TJ Watt and George Pickens
“Definitely have a deeper group,” Heyward added. “You look throughout the season, and we’ve had a lot of guys step up in that position when Alex was down. So, to watch Alex, Herbs, Preston Smith and Moon. We have quality guys that could be starters on other teams.”
Pickens is also having a strong season for the Steelers. In 12 games, the former Georgia Bulldogs star has caught 55 passes for 850 yards and three touchdowns. Because of the hamstring injury, Pickens has not placed since Dec. 1 when he caught three passes for 74 yards and one touchdown in a win against the Cincinnati Bengals.
