Todd McShay explains why he's sitting out of 2024 NFL Draft
For the first time since 2009, former ESPN NFL analyst Todd McShay will not provide NFL Draft coverage. On Friday, McShay explained why he won’t be a part of the annual event.
“Just want to take a minute to say thank you!” McShay wrote. “The outpouring of support during draft season has been noticed and greatly appreciated. As for next week’s draft, I’m sitting this one out on TV due to obvious contract limitations but it’s business as usual around here! You can catch me on God Bless Football today, as well as @PardonMyTake and @ryenrussillo podcast next week.”
ESPN fired McShay during its substantial round of layoffs in June 2023. He began working at ESPN in 2006. When McShay referenced contract limitations, he’s likely referring to a contract buyout from ESPN that prevents him from covering the event for other networks.
“Thanks again for all the support and inquiries on where to find me during the 2024 draft,” McShay said. “I can’t wait to get back out there and will keep you posted on what’s coming next!”
Who is covering the 2024 NFL Draft?
