Tom Brady is making his rounds in New England as he enjoys his retirement from the NFL.
The former Patriots quarterback, who of course finished his career with some tremendous success with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is proving there’s no hard feelings with the franchise where he made his name.
Check out the photo below, shared to Instagram by Patriots defensive legend Devin McCourty, as Brady was hanging out with his former teammate, as well as current New England quarterback Mac Jones.
What a picture. While Brady never played with Jones, the latter will always be known as the one who had to follow the man who brought six rings to New England. That’s a tough act to follow, no doubt.
While Jones’ rookie season was fantastic, his sophomore year left much to be desired, but many are pinning that on the gaggle of errors Bill Belichick made with his offensive coaching staff. With Bill O’Brien’s return to New England to lead the offense, many are expecting a bounce-back season for Jones.
Will he ever reach Brady’s highs in New England? It’s doubtful, but it’s unfair to expect any NFL quarterback to ever reach Brady’s lofty winning record. Well, except Patrick Mahomes. Perhaps the Kansas City Chiefs star could do so.

Moreover, Brady will have his number retired, officially that is, during New England’s first game of the season in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Brady won his third Super Bowl of his career against Philadelphia while he was in New England, but he also fell victim to Nick Foles‘ legendary run before he went to Tampa Bay, losing out on another ring to the Eagles. The latter game likely won’t be spoken about.
Many believe Jones was the perfect quarterback to replace Brady, as he came bred from Alabama, where Nick Saban’s style slightly mimics Belichick’s. He came highly touted, as the two coaches are close, but time will tell if Jones can achieve the same level of success in the NFL.
With the aforementioned O’Brien in town once again, Jones will at least have more to work off of. He won’t have a former defensive coordinator running the show for him.
Nevertheless, despite never officially mentoring Mac Jones in New England, it’s evident Tom Brady and the current Patriots quarterback are getting along swimmingly. We’ll see if Brady taught Jones a lesson or two when the season begins.
