Tom Cruise made an epic entrance at Sunday’s closing ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, jumping off the roof of Stade de France.

Cruise, in Europe filming “Mission: Impossible 8,” made the leap off France’s biggest stadium and onto the stage in the center, where he was greeted by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. She handed Cruise the Olympic flag, who then hopped on a motorcycle with the flag in tow and rode out of the stadium. His elaborate exit was symbolic of Paris “passing the torch” to Los Angeles as the host city for the 2028 Summer Games.

Cruise was further shown in a prerecorded video riding down the streets of Paris before driving into a helicopter and parachuting out of it, landing at the iconic Hollywood sign. “By the Way” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers played in the background as Cruise’s stunts were shown.

US closes 2024 Summer Olympics with most medals

Cruise, 62, was often seen at the Olympics, notably in attendance for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team’s 1-0 victory over Brazil in Saturday’s gold medal match.

The U.S. flagbearers for the closing ceremony were swimmer Katie Ledekcy and rower Nick Mead.

“To share this privilege with Katie makes it all the more special,” Mead said in a statement, via People. “My experience at the Paris Games has been the dream of a lifetime. And I’m filled with immense pride, gratitude and joy. I also wish to thank the city of Paris, and the entire country of France, for hosting an incredible Games. I’ll cherish these memories forever.”

Ledecky added: “I am so proud of this team’s accomplishments in Paris. And [I’m] excited to celebrate with my teammates on Sunday.”

The U.S. finished the Summer Olympics with 126 medals, the most of any country. 40 gold medals were claimed by Americans, tied with China for the most among countries.
