Tommy DeVito injury update: Latest on Giants QB ahead of Thanksgiving game vs. Cowboys
Tommy DeVito seemed destined to start for the New York Giants on Thanksgiving Day against the Dallas Cowboys, but Brian Daboll isn’t so sure at the moment.
The Giants called upon DeVito in the wake of Daniel Jones‘ benching, bypassing veteran Drew Lock. However, DeVito got beat up a bit during New York’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he’s dealing with some forearm pain. That’s left Daboll noncommittal to naming a starter for Thursday’s NFC East clash.
“Giants QB Tommy DeVito will be limited. He’s going to test his forearm. Drew Lock will get reps,” Daboll relayed via Connor Hughes of SNY. “Brian Daboll said he’s ‘hopeful,’ but it’s not 100% he plays It’s his throwing forearm.”
The Giants claimed they went to DeVito to give their offense a spark in Week 12, but it might take an out-alarm fire to awaken the team’s offense. Even though he made some solid throws on his way to a 189-yard performance against Tampa Bay, the team’s offensive line and defense didn’t allow the contest to be close.

Afterwards, multiple Giants players seemingly called out the coaching staff, going as far as to call their team soft, and claim certain members of the roster aren’t giving 100 percent effort on the field. If New York isn’t able to string together some wins, it could get uglier in the Big Apple.
Meanwhile, their opponent on Thanksgiving Day in the Cowboys are coming off a potential season-saving win against the Washington Commanders. They’re still a long shot to make the playoffs, but Mike McCarthy was smiling from ear to ear as his team held on for dear life against Jayden Daniels and company.
It remains to be seen if it’s Tommy DeVito or Drew Lock in Dallas on Thursday afternoon, but the Giants will need better play out of their quarterback position regardless. The Cowboys have dominated them over the last decade, and they’ll be hoping to feast against Big Blue on Thanksgiving for the second time in three seasons.
