Tony Romo reacts to 'method to the madness' behind Jayden Daniels-Noah Brown Hail Mary game-winner
Jayden Daniels had one of the most thrilling passes of the 2024 NFL season on Sunday night. He launched a Hail Mary to the end zone, where his prayers were answered, after the ball was tipped to Noah Brown for the game-winning touchdown in the Commanders-Bears matchup.
Following the miraculous play, Tony Romo described the method to the madness in his commentary with Jim Nantz.
Romo basically explained they put Brown in position behind the crowd of receivers as a planned part of the play. It’s never easy to completely plan a Hail Mary, but the general structure makes sense from Romo.
It’s the Commanders’ sixth win of the year.
The Commanders were down 15-12 with 25 seconds left in the fourth quarter when they got the ball back after a Bears go-ahead touchdown. Daniels got the Commanders in position to make one last play before time expired and threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Noah Brown.

The score allowed the Commanders to escape with an 18-15 win and improve to 6-2, keeping a perfect 4-0 record in their home games. Speaking with CBS’ Tracy Wolfson just moments after the game, Daniels himself was even speechless about what just transpired.
“Nothing but God,” he said. “Without him, I don’t even think I would be playing this week. All glory to God.”

Daniels suffered a rib injury early in last week’s 40-7 win against Carolina and never returned to the game. His status was questionable leading up to this week before he was ultimately cleared to go.
The touchdown throw at the end was his only score all afternoon, but he came through when it counted.
Despite this, Daniels explained that it wasn’t easy getting himself in game shape.
“Lotto long hours, long days,” he said. “But I put myself in a position to go out here. But like I said, nothing but glory to God.”
The No. 2 pick out of LSU in this year’s draft, Daniels has looked like the best quarterback in the class so far. He entered Week 8 leading the league in completion percentage (75.6%) to throw for 1,736 yards passing and six touchdowns to two interceptions, leading all rookies. He also has rushed for 372 yards and another four touchdowns.
