Tony Stewart reveals the one vehicle he drives 'everywhere'
Tony Stewart made his name as a stock car driver, racking up a long line of accomplishments in the sport before becoming a NASCAR team owner. However, he’s not driving stock cars in his day-to-day life. Instead, he drives his Ford Raptor everywhere he goes.
During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Stewart explained just how important his truck is to him.
“Honestly, I drive a Ford Raptor pickup truck,” Tony Stewart said. “Everywhere. Everywhere.”
Pat McAfee seemed to approve of this choice in vehicle, calling it “awesome,” before asking where he goes with it and suggesting that he fishes off the back. Tony Stewart was able to one-up that suggestion with a quick hunting story.
“Actually, I shot a deer off the hood of the Raptor this winter. I mean, I am from Southern Indiana. We do some pretty stupid sh*t down there.”
As a former Indianapolis Colt, McAfee appreciates the people from Southern Indiana and admitted, “I’ve done some dumb sh*t down there too, for sure. Had a good time, though.”
Tony Stewart wasn’t surprised by this. After all, that’s what everybody else does there all the time.

Tony Stewart on balancing young and veteran talent as an owner
As an owner, Tony Stewart brings a unique experience to his team. After all, he’s been both a young and a veteran driver in NASCAR. Finding a balance between those two types of drivers has now become something that’s very important for Stewart’s team.
“We don’t always have that choice, unfortunately. You know, sometimes you have to look at what’s available. There’s different drivers – not everybody’s contracts are up every season at the end of the year and have the ability to make changes. And then there’s drivers that are happy where they are as well. So, you literally have to look at who’s available, who’s up and coming, who’s running through the Ford program on the development side and you try to make your best choice – not just off what they do behind the steering wheel but how they fit with your program,” Stewart said.
“Are they going to fit with the rest of your guys? Are they going to fit with your crew chiefs? You have to find somebody that – you have to keep that Kevin Harvick mentality in mind. You have to have somebody that ultimately at the end of the day has to have his role of leadership and be a part of that. So, it’s not always a choice, the veteran versus rookie, it’s sometimes what’s available, and who’s available, and what we think is the best fit out of the options that are out there.”
