Travis Etienne provides update on foot rehab, timetable for full return

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne suffered a preseason Lisfranc foot injury which forced him to miss his entire rookie season. The former Clemson star provided an offseason update on his progression thus far.
During an interview with The Players Club Podcast, Travis Etienne discussed his foot injury and the progress he has made in recovery.
“My foot is doing much better,” Etienne said, via Jagswire. “Really just got back into the gym for the first time and I’m squatting for the first time this past week. So that’s been good and I’ve been running for a while now. I’m kind of getting to that 80% to 85% range. Definitely, just heading in the right direction, and as you know with this injury you have to take it day-by-day man. You can’t skip no days.”
The initial timeline for Etienne called for him to return to practice was 2022 training camp, which begins in July. NFL.com believes the update keeps him on pace to reach that goal.
Etienne was selected No. 25 overall in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He joined No. 1 overall pick and former Clemson teammate Trevor Lawrence as the future of the franchise but year one did not go as planned.

Etienne shocked the college football world when he elected to return to Clemson for his senior season. He finished his time with the Tigers as the ACC’s all-time leading rusher with 4,952 yards. He also had great hands, finishing his collegiate career with 1,155 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 102 catches. He averaged 11.3 yards per reception for his career and averaged 12.3 yards per catch in 2020.
Trevor Lawrence on Jaguars coach
Trevor Lawrence first received a question if he has gotten to speak with Doug Pederson and what his interactions with him have been like during an interview.
“We’ve talked a couple of times. We talked Thursday right before everything became official. I got to meet him when he came to town after it…when he did media and all that,” Lawrence said.
He then talked about how excited he was to work with his new head coach.
“I’m really excited,” said Lawrence. “I think personality wise, we mesh really well. I think we’re similar. And just seeing the job he did at Philly and the success they had. And the things they were able to do offensively is really impressive. I do think it’s cool…having a head coach who is that offensive guy, who was a quarterback. Has that experience to draw from. I’m really excited for that.”
