Travis Etienne reveals why it's so easy to get behind, play alongside Trevor Lawrence
Travis Etienne and Trevor Lawrence go back to their college days at Clemson, and now they’ve taken the NFL by storm with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
For the star running back, it’s easier than ever to rally behind Lawrence’s leadership, as he explained while speaking with the media at training camp, praising the personality and play of the Jaguars franchise quarterback.
“Most definitely,” Etienne said, regarding whether Lawrence is still the same guy he remembers from their time together at Clemson. “That’s what I love about Trev, nothing much really changed. I feel like, he’s still the same humble guy that he’s been, I feel like. Although he has everything he can have worldly, I feel like it never changed who he was in his heart.
“I feel like that why our guys here are just able to go out here and play for him, because I feel like he’s a great guy, a great person, he’s going to be a great father, so I feel like they just love to just be with him, and I feel like that’s why we’re able to go out there and just get behind him, through the ups and downs, and just keep pushing forward.”
Evidently, the Jaguars are believers in Lawrence as well, as they made him a very rich man over the offseason, with a monster extension. Still, Etienne knows he can ball himself as well, as he told the media he’s expecting an “unbelievable” year out of himself this season.

“I expect an unbelievable year,” Etienne said. “I feel like I wanna go out there and just be the best player that I can be for the team. Feel like week in and week out just being healthy. I feel like health is wealth and I’m able to go out there and just present a mismatch. Just really wanna see the coaches exploit those kinds of mismatches this year and I feel like that’s gonna help us be much better and they’ve been kind of getting me more involved here in the passing game and that’s gonna take my game to another level.
“I feel like I’ve always been electric with the ball in my hand just handing it off. But just getting me the ball in space is gonna be so much more crucial because I feel like the first guy is never gonna tackle me. And being out there one-on-one with a backer, I’m gonna make them miss every time. I just wanna help our receivers get open that much more, just help the defense more, help the run game, just turn our offense to a whole new level.”
There’s stiff competition in the AFC, but the Jacksonville Jaguars will be one of the more feared teams in the conference, as long as the duo of Travis Etienne and Trevor Lawrence can stay healthy in 2024.
