ESPN’s Adam Schefter gave the latest on Travis Kelce’s football future going into Super Bowl Sunday and as of now, 2025 is unknown.

Could Kelce retire, win or lose after Super Bowl LIX? It’s a possibility, but Schefter didn’t put a stamp in either direction for the future Hall of Fame tight end.

“Well, ideally, he’d like to continue playing football, but it doesn’t automatically mean that he will, because Travis Kelce is going to sift through his opportunities this off season, and he’s going to make a decision about what is best for him moving forward,” Schefter said on SportsCenter.

“He hasn’t made a decision about whether he will play, and he will not make a decision about whether he’ll play until he figures out exactly what’s in front of him, both on and off the football field. Would he love to continue playing? Yes. Could he continue playing? Yes? Will he? He hasn’t made that decision, and there’s plenty of time to reflect on that in the off season.”

Earlier this week, Kelce mentioned that he had a lot of football left in him. He left no doubt this time last year when he celebrated winning a second straight Super Bowl.

He wanted the three-peat with his Chiefs teammates and they are one win away from doing so.

Kelce didn’t sound like someone ready to walk away just yet. He told reporters there’s still some gas left in the tank and retirement likely isn’t on the table, no matter what happens Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I don’t know, hopefully still playing football,” Kelce said, via Front Office Sports. “I love doing this. I love coming into work every day, and I feel like I still got a lot of good football left in me. We’ll see what happens.”

But the star tight end is also cashing in away from the field – fulfilling a goal he set at the start of his career. His New Heights podcast alongside his brother, Jason, continues to gain popularity. Kelce has also appeared on stage alongside Swift at concerts, further growing his profile.

That helped fuel the speculation about how much longer he plans to play. For now, though, he plans to continue suiting up for the Chiefs.

“I know I’ve been setting myself up for other opportunities in my life,” Kelce said. “That’s always been the goal, knowing that football only lasts for so long. You’ve got to find a way to get into another career, another profession. I’ve been doing that in my offseasons. But for the most part, I plan on being a Kansas City Chief and playing football.”
