Travis Kelce defended brother Jason Kelce after the phone throwing incident at Penn State on Saturday. The two spoke about the situation during the latest edition of New Heights.

Kelce was followed by a fan prior to the game outside the stadium who asked the former Philadelphia Eagles’ center what he though about his brother dating Taylor Swift while uttering a homophobic slur. After multiple antagonizations, Kelce turned around, took the fan’s phone and smashed it.

The fan proceeded to follow Jason Kelce, who turned around and reiterated the slur to the fan before eventually being separated. Travis Kelce defended his brother for the heat of the moment reaction.

“I know it’s weighing on you brother, that s*** sucks,” Travis Kelce said. “You shouldn’t feel this much, obviously the scrutiny and the media view on it and everybody passing around the videos that are being out there.

“That’s gonna make it a bigger situation than, I think, what it really is. But the real situation is you had some f***ing clown come up to you and talk about your family and you reacted in a way that was defending your family. And you might have used some words that you regret using. And that’s a situation that where you just kinda have to learn from and own.”

Jason Kelce said his biggest regret was reiterating the homophobic slur uttered to him initially. He also addressed the situation during ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown.

“I think everybody’s seen on social media everything that took place this week,” Kelce said. “I’m not happy with everything that took place. I’m not proud of it and in a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that that’s a productive thing. I really don’t. I don’t think that it leads to discourse and is the right the way to go about things. In that moment, I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have.

“Bottom line is, I try to live my life by the Golden Rule. That’s what I’ve always been taught. I try to treat people with common decency and respect, and I’m gonna keep doing that moving forward even though I fell short this week. I’m gonna do that moving forward and continue to do that.”

Penn State police are investigating the incident between Kelce and the fan, TMZ reported Monday. Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin addressed the matter Monday.

“I saw something with Jason Kelce. Jason Kelce was coming to State College. I wanted him to have a wonderful experience. I didn’t get a chance to meet him or see him. Saw something that I wasn’t very, very proud of. I wish that didn’t happen,” Franklin said. “But there’s also, in 2024? I love that that person – there was a consequence to his action, you know.”
