The Kansas City Chiefs got some bad news on Sunday afternoon in the first half of their game against the Minnesota Vikings. With 1:13 left in the first half, star tight end Travis Kelce slipped to the turf after he caught a pass from Pat Mahomes. It was a non-contact injury and he wasn’t touched at all. Kelce limped off the field and was evaluated by trainers on the sideline, before going to the locker room to get X-rays on his right foot, according to Tracy Wolfson.

Once he was on the sidelines, Kelce was clearly in pain and he slammed his helmet to the turf in frustration.

If you want to see the video of his reaction, you can see that below.

Coming out of halftime, Kelce was seen jogging down the sideline. Per Tracy Wolfson on the CBS broadcast, he had his right foot taped up. He was questionable to return to the Chiefs-Vikings game.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Chiefs’ medical staff believed Kelce suffered a high ankle sprain in the game.

Later in the game, Kelce even hauled in a touchdown pass. So, it’s clear that whatever the injury was, it was not serious enough to prevent him from playing effectively on Sunday. It’s a positive for his outlook, but we’ll just have to wait and see if the injury bothers him in the future.

He finished the game with 10 catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs defeated the Vikings on Sunday, 27-20.

Entering Sunday’s game against Minnesota, the tight end was responsible for 17 catches for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Minnesota trolls Travis Kelce before Chiefs-Vikings game

Everyone seems so enamored with the Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift relationship these days. But Minnesota used this opportunity to troll the Chiefs tight end prior to Sunday’s game against the Vikings.

Minneapolis unveiled two billboards ahead of the game, both light-hearted shots at Kelce. Not even Taylor Swift, Kelce’s “friend,” was safe. One billboard reads “Welcome Mr. Pfizer,” while the other states, “Beat Taylor’s Boyfriend.”

With Swift attending two consecutive Kansas City games, a lot of media coverage has focused on her appearances. Earlier in the week, the NFL released a statement defending its coverage.

“We frequently change our bios and profile imagery based on what’s happening in and around our games, as well as culturally,” the NFL told PEOPLE. “The Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce news has been a pop cultural moment we’ve leaned into in real time, as it’s an intersection of sport and entertainment, and we’ve seen an incredible amount of positivity around the sport.

“The vast majority of our content has remained focused on the game, our players and variety of other initiatives, including our Toy Story Funday Football alt-cast, the international games and more.”

None of that became a problem this week. Swift did not attend Kansas City’s Week 5 matchup against Minnesota.
