One of the biggest stories of the NFL season has been the relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. Unsurprisingly, with Kansas City in the Super Bowl, the story is still an incredibly big deal and Kelce received questions about Swift going into the game.

At a press conference ahead of the Super Bowl, Travis Kelce got challenged on a Taylor Swift song lyric. However, he was able to hilariously sidestep singing a song during the press conference.

Kelce was asked to finish the lyrics, “Karma is the guy on the…?”

He replied, “Chiefs, of course.” The reporter who asked the question wanted him to finish the lyric, though and sang the next lyric in a kind of prompt to get him to sing. However, Kelce smiled and asked for a second question instead of singing along. In the process, he earned a good laugh from the reporters in attendance.

The lyrics come from the Taylor Swift song, “Karma,” which she had changed at one point to sing “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs,” from “On the screen.”

Fans long have thought that the song was about someone like Kanye West or Scooter Braun, who Taylor Swift has had issues with in the past. However, she never fed into those particular rumors and has insisted it’s a positive song that is trying to reward oneself internally for the things one deserves. In this case, a significant other.

It was a good, quick catch by Kelce to both say the lyric that implicated himself and know the song being referenced off the top of his head. It was also probably good that he kept himself from singing any of them because not everyone has the same range as Swift does.

San Francisco has its own excellent tight end in George Kittle. Ahead of the Super Bowl, he was asked about how Travis Kelce was handling the media attention surrounding his relationship with Taylor Swift.

“While it might seem to all of us it could be a distraction, it might not be to him. I think Travis is a mature man, he knows how to handle his business, and I think he puts football over everything. You can just tell. He is playing in the Super Bowl. He obviously knows how to handle anything going on off the field,” Kittle said.

“I can’t grasp my head around it. At some point in the offseason I’ll probably have to grab a beer and talk to him about it.”
