Travis Kelce on yelling at, bumping Andy Reid during Super Bowl LVIII: 'Unacceptable'
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said on his “New Heights” podcast alongside his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, that his actions towards head coach Andy Reid during Sunday’s 25-22 Super Bowl LVIII victory over the San Francisco 49ers were “unacceptable.”
During the second quarter of the game, Kelce was seen yelling at Reid on the sideline, bumping him in the process. The interaction occurred after running back Isiah Pacheco fumbled the football and turned it over with Kansas City driving into the red zone and threatening to score for the first time in the game. Kelce was not on the field for the play, apparently drawing his ire.
Jason Kelce called out his brother on the podcast, saying he “crossed the line; I think we can both agree on it.” Travis Kelce agreed, further explaining why he was upset in that moment.
“I got a certain relationship with him,” Kelce said, via ESPN. “He’s checked me a few times and I just wanted to let him know that I wanted this thing, and he can put it on me, and I got him. You know, it just came in a moment where we weren’t playing very well. I wasn’t playing well, and we had to get some s— going. And sometimes … emotions get away from me and that’s been the battle of my career.”

Kelce admitted he “immediately wished I could take it back.” He said he was expecting to get a “f—ing ass chewing” from Reid afterwards but was surprised at his head coach’s reaction.

“Coach Reid actually came right up to me after that and didn’t even have harsh words for me,” Kelce said. “I was ready to get a f—ing ass chewing and for him to just tell me to ‘f—ing be better’ and he just let him know, hey man, ‘I love your passion. I got cameras on me all over the place man, you don’t want things to come off’ … and it just made me … fired up to get a f—in’ victory for him, man. Cause that’s how much I love that dude, man. So Big Red, sorry if I caught you with that cheap shot baby.”
Reid later addressed the situation, calling Kelce a “competitive kid.”
“He wasn’t looking. He didn’t know I was gonna go that far. So, after that he came over gave me a hug. Said ‘sorry about that,’” Reid said. “But you know what? He just wants to be on the field, and he wants to play.
“And so, there’s nobody I get better than I get him. He’s a competitive kid and you know, he loves to play, and he makes me feel young. You know, but my balance is terrible.”
