Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs didn’t take too kindly to a hot mic moment seemingly insulted his big brother, Stefon Diggs.

So Trevon called for his brother to leave the Bills. He posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Tuh! They turn on you so quick. Gotta get bro somewhere safe.”

Hot mic caught reporter’s conversation about Stefon Diggs

It all seems to be an overreaction to a moment that (unintentionally) went viral Wednesday night. The Bills were conducting their media availability with coaches and players. The event was live streamed. And as reporters waited for the players to make an appearance at the podium, they chatted about who may be taking the mic.

Maddy Glab, who works for the Bills website, could be heard saying “there’s no control over Stefon Diggs. Dudes gonna do what he wants to do. He’ll look in my face and say (expletive) you…that’s how he treats everybody.”

After the moment gained so much viral momentum, Glab issued an apology.

“I want to take ownership for what I said today,” she posted on social media. “I am very sorry for what I said and meant no ill will. (And) I respect the hell out of Stefon Diggs, and he has been one of my favorite players to cover. He has great character and treats us media with lots of respect. He takes time out of his day to talk to us, which he doesn’t have to do.”

She then explained what happened. “For context, media was waiting for players to come out for press conferences when a reporter joking told me to go get Stefon Diggs. I said I don’t have control over him — Stef marches to the beat of his own drum and I love that about him. He has a playful relationship with our video department, so that’s why I said he probably wouldn’t say yes to me grabbing him for an interview. I should not have said what I said, and I apologize for that. Stef is not in the wrong, I am.”

Older Diggs has viral moments of his own making

Of course, Stefon Diggs has had several of his own viral moments. In a playoff loss to the Bengals, cameras caught the receiver yelling at quarterback Josh Allen. Then Diggs vacated the lockerroom before the press conferences started. Fans also scrutinize Diggs’ social media posts. One controversial tweet came in April when he posted “Comeeeeee anddddd rescue me…”

And the Bills aren’t having a happy week in Buffalo. The team lost its opener, 22-16, in overtime to the Jets. Allen threw three interceptions and lost a fumble. His go-to receiver was Diggs, who caught 10 passes for 102 yards.

Stefon Diggs did an interview with teammate Von Miller for Miller’s podcast. And he talked about how folks may read too much into comments. He may need to speak to Trevon.

The two brothers are close. Stefon watched from the stands at MetLife Stadium Sunday night as Trevon and the Cowboys played the Giants.

Now, it’s probably time to put this all behind the brothers. Trevon and the Cowboys play at home against the Jets. The team beat the Giants, 40-0, so the vibe definitely is different than in Buffalo. Meanwhile, Stefon Diggs, Allen and all the Bills prefer to get back on track at home against the Raiders.
