Trevon Diggs criticizes himself following Cowboys loss

Dallas Cowboys star cornerback Trevon Diggs was critical of his own play after the Cowboys’ loss on Sunday to the Denver Broncos. Denver handed the Cowboys their second loss of the year in a 30-16 game that was at one point a 30-0 lead.

“I didn’t play good at all,” said Diggs via Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken. “I don’t like losing. So, we’ve got to come back next week harder. We know what we’ve got to do. We’re going to stick together, and we’re going to get it done.”

Diggs was not the only Cowboy struggling on Sunday after the team lost on both sides of the ball against the Broncos. However, Diggs certainly feels the pressure on himself after his early season success and potentially record-tying interception count.

While teammates and fans around the league were beginning to call Diggs’ side of the field the side you avoid as an offense, there have been moments where Diggs has been the defensive back getting scored on. On Sunday early, Diggs was burned by Tim Patrick on a 44-yard touchdown reception down the sideline.

Patrick gave a stutter-step move on the deep route that gave him just enough of a lead to the end zone, where Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater delivered a pass right into his hands.

The Cowboys never recovered from the early lead they gave up, and the Broncos handed them their first loss since Week 1 of the season. Dallas is now 6-2 as Denver improved to 5-4, despite a somewhat tumultuous week for them after trading away veteran star Von Miller.

Micah Parsons knows Cowboys are better than shown

Dallas Cowboys rookie linebacker Micah Parsons may be new to the league, but he knows enough to say that his team’s performance on Sunday was not reflective of Dallas’ fabric.

Parsons knows that the Cowboys are a better team than that, and he expressed frustration with how the game went, despite himself having a nice individual game. Parsons put up ten total tackles on Sunday, including eight solo stops, and an eye-opening 2.5 sacks (three total tackles for a loss). In the process, Parsons made franchise history and became the first rookie in Cowboys franchise history to have five-plus sacks through the first eight games of his career.

“I just think [the Broncos] played really well,” Parsons said after the game, visually frustrated with his team’s performance. “But they didn’t get our best game. There are no excuses.”

Moments after uttering the quote, a bug flying around the Cowboys’ media room almost landed on Parsons. Then, he walked away from the podium and uttered, “it’s just not my day.”
