Trevon Diggs injury update: Dallas Cowboys make decision on CB after pregame workout
Dallas Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs is active for Week 9’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, per ESPN’s Todd Archer. He was previously considered a game-time decision.
Diggs missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday before working out with the team on Friday. He has been dealing with a tear in his calf suffered during last Sunday’s 30-24 Week 8 road defeat to the San Francisco 49ers.
A two-time Pro Bowler and 2021 All-Pro selection, Diggs has suited up in all seven games this season after missing 15 games in 2023 due to a torn ACL.
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy spoke on Friday about his star defensive back’s status before the team traveled to Atlanta for Sunday’s matchup.
“There’s specific drills we’ll need to him to do tomorrow. But he was much better today than we could’ve anticipated,” McCarthy said, via Todd Archer. “He’s doing everything he can to try to get ready for Sunday.”

The 26-year-old has compiled 28 tackles (23 tackles), four passes defended and one interception. He has struggled in coverage, grading out 134th among 201 cornerbacks through eight weeks, according to Pro Football Focus.
This is good news for Dallas, who has dealt with a depleted defensive unit throughout the season. On top of Diggs’ recovery, star pass rusher Micah Parsons was ruled out after not being able to practice this week. Fellow CB DaRon Bland was ruled out as well.
Elsewhere in the lineup, running back Ezekiel Elliott is a healthy scratch and did not travel with the team to Atlanta after reported behind-the-scenes issues throughout the season. Dallas will turn toward Rico Dowdle and Dalvin Cook to improve its rushing attack in Week 9.
The Cowboys will be looking to improve their record to .500 (currently 3-4) with a win over Atlanta on Sunday and snap the two-game losing streak. Kickoff between the Falcons and Cowboys is set for 1 p.m. ET and will air live on FOX.
