Trevon Diggs, Micah Parsons omit Dak Prescott from list of top NFL quarterbacks
Dallas Cowboys (3-4) quarterback Dak Prescott may be the highest-paid player in NFL history, but that doesn’t necessarily mean his teammates believe he’s one of the best in the league.
Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs, speaking on “The Edge with Micah Parsons” earlier this week, talked about where they would rank the Washington Commanders’ (6-2) Jayden Daniels among the best signal callers in the league just eight games into his career. That led into a conversation where both Parsons and Diggs rattled off the quarterbacks they would argue belong in the top 5.
Prescott’s name never came up. Among the other quarterbacks Parsons and Diggs mentioned: The Philadelphia Eagles’ (5-2) Jalen Hurts, the Detroit Lions’ (6-1) Jared Goff and the Minnesota Vikings’ (5-2) Sam Darnold.
Prescott, 31, has been a highly successful quarterback for Dallas in the regular season, posting a 76-45 mark since becoming starter in 2016. He is just one year removed from his best season to date in the NFL, in which he led the league with 36 touchdown passes and finished as the runner-up to the Baltimore Ravens’ (5-3) Lamar Jackson for the AP NFL MVP Award.

Dak Prescott, Cowboys struggling on offense in 2024
It’s been a different story this year for the Cowboys and Prescott, who signed a four-year contract extension worth $240 million ahead of the season opener. The offense has struggled to find much of a ground game, averaging a league-low 74.1 yards per game. Prescott, meanwhile, has struggled with turnovers. He has thrown eight interceptions in seven games after throwing nine all of last season.
Following this past Sunday’s 30-24 Week 8 road defeat to the San Francisco 49ers (4-4), in which he committed two more turnovers, Prescott admitted he must do a better job of protecting the football.
“I don’t have to be perfect, but I sure can’t be having the turnovers,” Prescott said. “Once again, we put ourselves behind in the turnover battle, and that’s on me. Can’t have that if you’re planning to win games. I’ve got to clean that up, period.”
