The Cowboys pulled off a shocking upset of the Bengals, sending Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and company back to Cincinnati with an 0-2 record.

Earlier in the week, Chase talked a little mess regarding Trevon Diggs, calling the Dallas defensive back “a little hit or miss” when it comes to his ability to defend.

“He’s an athlete,” Chase said of Diggs, prior to their matchup. “Great ball skills in the air. He’s super fast. He’s a little — he’s not too much on technique sound. He’s a little hit or miss. He’s either all the way on or not on at all. But he’s definitely a great athlete.”

While it may seem innocent, Cowboys faithful took it as an insult to their star defensive back. Alas, Chase was held to five receptions for 54 receiving yards in his team’s loss, Diggs responding with his play, and his words after the victory.

“It was cool,” Diggs told reporters, speaking of his previously criticized technique on Sunday. “I think we did good against the wide receivers. What did you think?”

Evidently, Diggs let his lockdown coverage do the talking, as the Bengals offense couldn’t find any rythym throughout the day. If Chase didn’t have respect for the former Alabama star’s ability before, he certainly does now.

Next for Diggs and the Dallas Cowboys are the surprisingly 2-0 New York Giants, as they travel to East Rutherford, New Jersey for a Monday Night Football showdown in Week 3. As for the Bengals, they’ll continue to search for their first win of the season, also traveling to East Rutherford in Week 3 — taking on the New York Jets next Sunday.

As he’s ascended to a bigger spotlight in the NFL, it’s been popular to rag on Trevon Diggs for his ability in coverage, but it may be time to put some more respect on his name moving forward.
