It’s been an incredible start to the season for the Dallas Cowboys, going 2-0 out of the gate with blowout wins over the New York Giants and Jets. There are a lot of factors that have gone into that success, including the cornerback tandem of Trevon Diggs and Stephon Gilmore.

For his part, Diggs thinks that he and Gilmore are two of the best defensive backs in the sport. Together, they’re the best in the NFL.

“I think we got the best tandem in the league,” Trevon Diggs said. “I feel like if he does what he’s supposed to do and I do what I’m supposed to, can’t no one stop us.”

Diggs has been with Dallas since the Cowboys drafted him in 2020. He immediately made his mark on the NFL, with 17 interceptions in three seasons entering this year. Diggs was also named an All-Pro performer in 2021, after intercepting 11 passes in a season.

For his part, Stephon Gilmore is a veteran who has been with five NFL teams since 2012. During that time, he’s been one of the most valuable defensive players in the entire game. In 2019, Gilmore was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He’s also been a five-time Pro Bowler who won a Super Bowl with the Patriots.

Gilmore was traded to the Cowboys this past offseason with one year remaining on his contract. Almost immediately, he developed a strong relationship with Diggs.

“He’s like a little brother to me now,” Gilmore said during training camp. “He’s got so much talent and I’m just trying to help him as much as I can. I think he’s got so much more room to grow. Just trying to do whatever I can to help him be a great player.”

Diggs snagged an interception against the Jets while Gilmore had one against the Giants. Next up for Dallas is a trip to Arizona.

Trevon Diggs called for his brother to leave Buffalo

Trevon Diggs is the brother of star wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Now, in the wake of a reporter commenting on Stefon Diggs negatively while on a hot mic, Trevon is calling for his brother to leave Buffalo.

“Tuh! They turn on you so quick. Gotta get bro somewhere safe,” Diggs posted.

Clearly, Trevon wasn’t thrilled with the hot mic comments. However, those comments probably aren’t going to be enough on their own to make Stefon want to leave Buffalo where the Bills have a chance to put together a special season.
