Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence 'day-to-day' to play against Titans with foot injury
Trevor Lawrence suffered a foot injury against the Detroit Lions but managed to finish out the contest in the 40-14 loss. With an AFC South foe in the Tennessee Titans on deck Sunday, head coach Doug Pederson was unsure of Lawrence’s status for the game, according to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco.
“Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (foot) will not practice on Wednesday,” DiRocco wrote on Twitter. “Doug Pederson calls him day to day and said he’s unsure if Lawrence will be able to play on Sunday.”
Lawrence finished the loss 17-of-31 passing for 179 yards and one touchdown. Backup C.J. Beathard stepped in and completed two-of-three passes for six yards during Lawrence’s brief absence. The Jaguars (4-8) are on the outside looking in for the playoffs and with Lawrence’s injury, Jacksonville is an underdog on the road against the Titans.
“Luckily, nothing serious,” Lawrence said of his injury postgame, via the Jaguars team website. “We’ll have to see how I feel tomorrow. I’m going to be a little sore but thankful it’s not anything serious … My team did a good job just checking everything, not rushing me out there. I wanted to get out there and play, but they had the ball first, so we had some time. We took our time and checked everything out and everything was good, so nothing serious.”
In his second season out of Clemson, Lawrence vastly improved over his rookie season under then-coach Urban Meyer. This year, Lawrence has 2,834 yards, 17 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 65.6% completion percentage.
