Trevor Lawrence injury update: Jaguars QB's status revealed for Sunday vs. Lions
The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially ruled out quarterback Trevor Lawrence for Sunday’s matchup against the Detroit Lions, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Friday evening. Running back Tank Bigsby is also ruled out for Sunday’s game. Lawrence is dealing with a severe AC Joint sprain, that the Athletic reported a few days ago could potentially sideline him for the rest of the 2024 season.
More on Trevor Lawrence and his injury
“A severe AC joint sprain could sideline Trevor Lawrence for the rest of the season, sources tell (The Athletic),” the tweet read. “Lawrence is out today and gathering more information on his injury.”
In nine games this season, Lawrence played decently, but the Jaguars were 2-7 going into Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. They now sit at 2-8 overall on the 2024 season.
He had 2,004 yards, 11 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 61.3% completion percentage. Lawrence had back to back seasons of over 20 touchdown passes and 4,000 yards since his rough rookie season.
In total, Lawrence has 13,774 yards, 69 touchdowns, 45 interceptions and a 63.4% completion percentage. He led Jacksonville to an AFC South title in 2022 and won a Wild Card playoff game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
While appearing on the Another Dooley Noted Podcast, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum was asked by Pat Dooley about what his luxury suite at EverBank Stadium will look like once the renovations are done in 2028.
“I’ve actually begun negotiating. I’m buying mine from Trevor Lawrence because he won’t be around much longer,” Paul Finebaum joked.

Of course the joke was amid the struggles of Jacksonville this season, a far cry from the previously mentioned 2022 season.
By 2028, Lawrence will be 29 and have two years remaining on his five-year, $275 million contract extension that he signed in June.
Lawrence previously talked about his improvement over time this year.
“From an individual perspective, I think I’ve played better the last few weeks,” Lawrence said per the Jaguars’ official website. “There is some correlation between that and the completion percentage being up. I think some of our plans the last couple weeks have been really good.
“I feel like I’ve been seeing it great. I feel like I’ve been pretty accurate the last few weeks, corrected a couple things, and I also feel like as an offense we’re kind of settling in and it’s just been going a little bit smoother, so it’s been good.”
