Trevor Lawrence reveals 'flipped switch' in second year with Jacksonville Jaguars
Trevor Lawrence vastly improved in his second season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the former Clemson quarterback pointed to one specific moment this year that “flipped a switch” for him and the team. While the Jaguars (5-8) are two games back of the New England Patriots for the final wild card spot in the AFC, Lawrence and Jacksonville take it just one game at a time.
The second-year signal caller revealed the loss to the Denver Broncos lit a fire underneath him and his play improved since, aside from an injury riddled loss to the Detroit Lions. The Jaguars are 3-2 since the loss to Denver.
“[We] should have won that game,” Lawrence said Wednesday. “I remember I never forgot how I felt in that locker room, so I don’t want to feel like this anymore. I’m going to one, start taking care of the ball, but two, I just want to be the player that I know I can be.
“And I think that kind of flipped a switch in me and honestly, too, I think I have a little bit more of a chip on my shoulder now.”
On the season, Lawrence has 3,202 yards, 20 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 66.2% completion percentage. Over the course of his near-two year career, Lawrence has 6,843 yards, 32 touchdowns, 23 interceptions and a 62.5% completion percentage.

Lawrence and the Jaguars upset the Tennessee Titans 36-22 last weekend to get win No. 5 on the year. Considering the win was on the road, it feels like a different vibe in Duval County. He finished the win 30-of-42 passing for 368 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for another score.
Lawrence was the No. 1 overall pick by Jacksonville in the 2021 NFL Draft. He played three years with the Tigers, finishing with 10,098 yards, 90 touchdowns, 17 interceptions and a 66.6% completion percentage. Lawrence led Clemson to a College Football Playoff national championship victory during his freshman year, back to the finals in 2019 (a loss to LSU) and to the semifinals during his final collegiate campaign.
As a member of the Class of 2018, Lawrence was a five-star prospect according to the On3 Consensus, with a rating of 99.69, out of Cartersville (G.A.) High. He was the No. 1 overall prospect in the state, the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the class and the No. 1 overall prospect in the class
