WATCH: Trey Palmer shows off blazing speed in 40-yard dash at NFL Combine
Part of what made Trey Palmer so electric at Nebraska last season was his speed. As he prepares for the 2023 NFL Draft, he put himself in a class of his own at the NFL Combine on Saturday.
Palmer turned in the fastest 40-yard dash time of the receivers who participated in the event, clocking in at 4.33, unofficially. It was an impressive showing from the former Cornhusker, who emerged as the top target for Casey Thompson after transferring from LSU.
Now, he will wait to see how it impacts his draft stock.
In his lone season at Nebraska in 2022, Palmer totaled 1,043 yards and nine touchdowns while also getting involved with the run game, taking five carries for 75 yards in 12 games. He’ll see when his name gets called in the draft, which takes place April 27-29 in Kansas City.
ESPN draft expert reveals NFL comparison, best team fits for Trey Palmer
Former Nebraska WR Trey Palmer is one of the most intriguing players in the 2023 NFL Draft. His 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame mixed with his skills and speed gives him the potential of making his mark on the league as fast as his rookie season.

ESPN draft expert Matt Miller, who ranks Palmer as the No. 10 WR in this draft class, compared the former Cornhusker to Tennessee Titans wideout Robert Woods. Miller even named the Titans as one of the teams with interest in Palmer, alongside the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots.
Miller gives Palmer a third-round grade with the chance to improve that ranking in the pre-draft process. Palmer specialized in big plays during his junior season in 2022 and could catch the eyes of teams wanting threats in the vertical passing game. He was the 10th-best WR in college football with 10 catches of 25 yards or more last season.
“He’s one of the most explosive players in the class,” said one NFL scout, per Miller. “You love his ability to get up the field and win vertically. He has legit deep ball chops, but he’s also loose and agile on underneath routes.”
