Late oil spill can’t stop Treyten Lapcevich
There were a number of cautions late in this CARS Tour race. That isn’t necessarily a surprise. These drivers give their all and fight for every inch. With the repave at Wilkesboro, the track is also super fast. Drivers have to be accurate to be successful.
When the caution flag came out with only a few laps to go, Lapcevich looked vulnerable. However, despite sliding through the oil on the track and tagging the wall, Lapcevich kept his wheel straight.
It was another reminder that Lapcevich was in the zone tonight. While Brenden Queen led plenty of laps early, once the NASCAR Canada champion got a hold of P1, he didn’t relinquish it.
Treyten Lapcevich survived the four-lap shootout to end the race and notched a victory over a lot of talented drivers. Corey Heim earned P2 honors with Mini Tyrell rounding out the podium. Carson Kvapil and Queen earned themselves top-five finishes. Kevin Harvick finished P11 after issues late.
