Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman expressed some cheeky displeasure at his game assignment this week on Fox. Aikman and his booth partner Joe Buck discussed the upcoming game in AT&T Stadium and naturally, the former three-time Super Bowl champ let it slip that he wished he was there instead of in Tampa Bay.

“It’s going to be a great game, I mean, a really good game,” Aikman said. “I think there’s a lot of people who would like to be calling that game but should be a lot of fun.”

While Aikman and Buck watched the Tampa Bay Buccaneers handle the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys prepare for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff versus San Francisco.

Luckily for Cowboys fans, they’ll have another Dallas star on the call instead. Tony Romo and Jim Nantz are in the booth for CBS.

San Francisco is back in the playoffs for the first time since losing the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs. With rookie Trey Lance waiting in the wings, Jimmy Garoppolo is on borrowed time as the team’s quarterback. However, he can make himself some money this offseason if he can lead the 49ers to a victory over Dallas.

As for Dallas, teams in the NFL want what’s going on with the NFC East champs. As teams look to replace fired head coaches, almost every franchise has requested to interview either offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, or defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. The team could look much different after Sunday’s showdown.

Another chapter is about to be written between the Cowboys and 49ers. Here’s who won’t be on the field for the game.

Dallas Cowboys: Inactives for Sunday’s game
