LOOK: Troy Aikman posts first photo in iconic Monday Night Football jacket

Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famer Troy Aikman shared a first-look photo of himself wearing his new Monday Night Football broadcasting jacket. The broadcasting duo of Aikman and Joe Buck will be calling games on Monday nights for ESPN this year after leaving Fox. Aikman and Buck both got to try on the iconic ABC jackets while touring the ESPN campus, part of the exciting new era beginning for Monday Night Football.

“Spent the day touring the ESPN campus and got presented with the iconic Monday Night Football blazer at a company-wide employee reception,” read Aikman’s caption on the photo. “Can’t wait for September 12th!”

After working on Fox for 20 years, Aikman made the switch to ESPN this season. He was able to recruit Buck to come with him to his new job, and the pair will continue to work together — now on Monday Night Football. The 2022 season of the iconic football broadcasting tradition will begin on Sep. 12 with a matchup between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks.

Adding to the normal excitement surrounding the NFL season’s beginning is the off-season trade by Seattle to Denver that found quarterback Russell Wilson playing for a new team. Wilson’s first regular season action as a Bronco will be against his former team, setting the stage for a special night for Aikman and Buck’s broadcasting debut.

Aikman learns his MNF record

Aikman’s Hall of Fame career left him with no shortage of confidence, causing a hilarious moment when he learned his Monday Night Football record. While promoting the season’s upcoming season of Monday Night Football — Aikman was asked by the crew of Good Morning America what he thought his personal record was in the marquee game.

Aikman answered with Hall of Fame confidence, joking that he thought he was undefeated on Monday night, but wasn’t sure of the exact record. He said as the record was revealed that he knew he had “won a lot of games on Monday night,” only to be completely shocked at his actual record of 13-9.

The candid reaction of Aikman got everybody on the broadcast laughing as he seemed genuinely shocked that he had a record anywhere near .500 winning percentage. While the three-time Super Bowl champion might have a case to make that he was better than a 13-9 quarterback, that 59 percent win-rate is actually higher than his career average of 57 percent — as Aikman’s career record is 94-71 as quarterback of the Cowboys, according to Statmuse.
