Hall of Fame QB Troy Aikman is very confident in Shedeur Sanders becoming a legit franchise quarterback in the NFL, starting next year.
Sanders excelled in college as a starting QB, particularly the last two years at Colorado. Going into his final game, the Alamo Bowl against BYU, he could solidify himself as the No. 1 overall pick, or at least the top quarterback selected.
Based on what Aikman’s seen, he’s a sure fire talent at the next level.
“I do think he’s a franchise quarterback. I love his game,” Aikman told TMZ Sports. “I’ve obviously been watching him for a number of years. I know his father intimately well and wish him the best, of course, as well. What Shedeuer has been able to do has been remarkable. You know, to start first, going back to when he was young, before he went off to college. But, you know, success has followed him.
“It’s not a surprise for anyone who’s followed Deion’s career and what he’s done as a coach as well. So I’m excited for Colorado. I’m excited for Shedeur and really looking forward to seeing what he might do at the NFL level. My expectation is that he’s going to have a hell of a career.”
There’s not much more to prove if you’re Shedeur Sanders, but he wants to finish his college career in the right way. He’ll play in the Alamo Bowl, alongside teammate and Heisman winner Travis Hunter.

“Yeah, we’re playing for a purpose at the end of the day,” Sanders said on 2Legendary. “It’s for those teammates that didn’t have the seasons that they want to have, and they still got one more opportunity. So we all got to show up and show out. You know, this is my last time playing with this type of receiving core, which is amazing. You got different speeds, different everything. Because, you know, the next level is not too much 10 personnel like that. It’s more than 12 personnel.
“So I’ll say it’s the final time to take 90% of the snaps, you know, in 10 personnel, having all those different types of weapons out there. And I really want Jimmy Horn to get in there and have his game. So that’s definitely who I want to target the most.”
In 12 games this season, Sanders saved his best for last. That’s for sure. He had 3,926 yards, 35 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 74.2% completion percentage.
In two seasons at Colorado, Sanders has 7,156 yards, 62 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 71.8% completion percentage.
