Tua Tagovailoa injury: Mike McDaniel addresses Dolphins QB plan for Monday vs. Titans
Mike McDaniel shared his plan for what the Miami Dolphins are going to do about the QB situation for the upcoming Monday Night Football game as Tua Tagovailoa recovers from a concussion. The Dolphins head coach said it was “a possibility, for sure” that Tyler Huntley would be the starting quarterback for the game against the Tennessee Titans.
When Tagovailoa went down with his injury during the Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills. Skylar Thompson took over but suffered a rib injury in last Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Tim Boyle finished the game and threw for 79 yards on 13 pass attempts.
The Dolphins signed Huntley off the Baltimore Ravens practice squad last week. He started as the No. 3 QB, but with the injury to Thompson and Boyle underperforming, Huntley could earn the 10th start of his career this Sunday. Huntley originally signed with the Ravens in 2020 as an undrafted free agent from Utah. In his career, Huntley has thrown for 1,957 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.
After Sunday’s game, McDaniel was asked about the plan for the quarterback position. “I think you have to look at everything. And you have to find a way to give your team a best chance to win,” he said, per the Dolphins’ official website. “In 2022, this was something that happened to us as well. And ultimately the rest of the league does not care nor should they. We have to find a way to get better collectively. And it’s going to take a better effort by everyone, including myself, or starting with myself.

While Mike McDaniel weighs his options at the QB position, Tua Tagovailoa is working his way back to the lineup. On Tuesday, McDaniel announced that the former Alabama Crimson Tide star will meet with outside neurologists this week.
“The plan hasn’t changed. It’s been executed,” McDaniel said. “That’s where it stands. I don’t know reports, who sources are, but people should talk to me. I’ve got the real information.”
