With 53 laps to go in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race, the first caution for cause came out and Ty Gibbs was the victim. Justin Allgaier tapped his left rear and sent the 19 car spinning around and into the wall.

After the wreck, Ty Gibbs tried to give chase to Justin Allgaier. Well, it appeared that way at first. Then Gibbs thought better of it. Decided to just get his car to pit road for tires and body repairs and back onto the track.

If you are Allgaier you have to hope that this doesn’t come back to bite you. Gibbs will have to hope for a miracle to get back to Allgaier before the end of this race with 47 laps to go on the restart.

Gibbs asked his crew over the radio right after to make sure there was contact and Allgaier did indeed spin him. He was not very happy.

Ty Gibbs won the opening stage of today’s race. He was also the pole-sitter. However, he was unable to withstand the onslaught from Allgaier in this case. The two drivers were giving each other a hard time for a few laps.

Things ended up getting to a tipping point, or a spinning point, if you will. The wreck put Gibbs near the rear of the field and gave him a much more difficult job for the rest of the race. With the heat in Nashville and in the cars themselves, emotions were running high.

As for Justin Allgaier, he had problems with his car as well. There was an electrical issue that led the team to start worrying about replacing a battery on a pit stop. I’m not sure that can be to blame for the Gibbs wreck, though.

Of course, Ty Gibbs is a polarizing figure. Fans love him or hate him. As the grandson of Joe Gibbs, that is going to be part of the deal. With how talented he is behind the wheel, it only makes that worse. People love to hate on winners.

This race had a lot of promise for Gibbs. I think the lack of cautions, up until he was wrecked, had a lot to do with that. His car was great out front in the clean air for the first stage. In dirty air, he couldn’t pass, didn’t have the speed, and I think the long green flag runs only made it worse.

Ty Gibbs will be in another Xfinity Series race this season more than likely. Keep that in mind if he ever finds himself next to the No. 7 car again.
