The first caution of the day came out during Stage 1 at IRP, Ty Majeski then jumped the restart battling with Grant Enfinger. The NASCAR officials hit him with a pass-through penalty.

Ty Majeski won this race at Indianapolis Raceway Park a year ago. He will have a hard time defending that victory now. While he didn’t completely lose a lap during the pass-through, he barely came out in front of the leaders.

This penalty has allowed Christian Eckes to now take the lead over Enfinger. Majeski is doing his best to stay on the lead lap. He finished P16 in the stage.

Ty Majeski has had struggles this season. He was hoping that a short-track race, his specialty, at a track he had won at before would solve his woes. It appears that he is going to have a tough job tonight. His truck is fast, I think he can make his way up through the field.

Getting into the top-5 again, may not be that big of a deal. Tough, but doable. Once he gets to that point, cautions, restarts, and pit stops will have to be perfect the rest of the night and fall at the perfect times if he wants to take the lead.

With tough drivers like Christian Eckes, Grant Enfinger, and Corey Heim are so good in the Truck Series. They do not make it easy on anyone else.

The good news for Ty Majeski, the stage ended soon after his penalty. By staying on the lead lap, Majeski restarted just a few seconds back of the leaders once the first few laps of Stage 2 shook out.

This season has not gone the 98 team’s way. Then again, ThorSport has not had a great season overall. Majeski has a handful of top-5 finishes. He’s been runner-up twice this season.

There have been misses. Bristol, a P34 DNF was a costly mistake. The fact he wasn’t able to close out the win at Martinsville, where he won the pole, will be one he wishes he had back at the end of the season.

Ty Majeski is fourth in points this season. However, he has lacked the winning speed that he is going to need if he wants to compete for a championship. Tonight he still has time to make up for his restart violation, but he didn’t make his job any easier tonight.
