Ty Majeski feels bad about 'inexcusable' move that put him and Zane Smith out of Toyota 200

In the second to last restart of the Toyota 200, Ty Majeski thought he had an edge on Zane Smith… he did not have an edge. Making late passes for the lead, when racing heats up, that’s just NASCAR. Sometimes though, you have to own up to your mistakes. Majeski was not afraid to own up to this one.

Ty Majeski and his No. 98 ThorSport Racing Ford F-150 were fast. Like, really fast. All race you could see Majeski start to chip away at the leaders. He was in place to make a massive move, with arguably the best truck on the track.

Zane Smith, defending Truck Series champion, was there to fight him off. One slip, and the two were into one another.

“Yeah, the restarts were a struggle all day,” Majeski said, via Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports. “Low air pressures on the splitter a bit. Got into [Turn] 3 obviously trying to get ahead of the 38 [Zane Smith]. Hit the splitter had to check up, went up the race track, and obviously when you go up the race track um, you know his side clipped there off of mine and obviously I went around and wrecked us both.

“Inexcusable, misjudged it. Was trying to win the race, obviously wrecked two really good Ford F-150s. Disappointed in myself, gotta execute when you have the fastest truck by a mile like that. Just inexcusable have to be better.”

Sometimes you live and you learn. That is what this race is going to be for Ty Majeski. Just a time for him to look at what he did wrong, fix it, and move on to the next race.

Grant Enfinger should thank Ty Majeski

If there is one driver out there happy about what Ty Majeski did on the track, it has to be Grant Enfinger. Racing in third place, Enfinger didn’t have what it took to respond to Majeski and Smith. But he was in the right place at the right time whenever the two Ford drivers got into each other.

With the wreck of Majeski and Smith, Enfinger lined up at the front of the final restart. It put him in a position to race for the win. He had the upper hand on Christian Eckes and just drove it hard to the finish line.

Enfinger also earned a $50,000 bonus for the Triple Truck Challenge courtesy of Craftsman.

It is hard for a driver to wreck when they have the best car or truck. This is going to sting for Majeski and especially for Smith. The 38 team is looking to turn their luck around and it appeared that WWT Raceway and the Toyota 200 was the answer. They will have to wait two more weeks to get a shot at redemption when the Truck Series returns at Nashville.
