This week is a big one in Super Late Model racing. Ty Majeski is seeking his second Snowball Derby in a row and third in his career. With the season that Majeski has had in 2024 in NASCAR and late models, I wouldn’t bet against him.

Ty Majeski is fresh off a win at the Bill Bigley Memorial at Freedom Factory. He won his fourth Oktoberfest of his career. This ride all started in the 2023 season with wins at Slinger Nationals, the Snowball Derby, and winning the ASA Stars National Tour championship.

In the history of the Snowball Derby, going back to 1968, only one driver has three or more wins. Only three have ever won back-to-back Snowball Derby races.

With history on the line, Ty Majeski is ready to go out and make it happen. Another Snowball win would be major, solidifying Majeski as one of the best short-track racers in the country.

“I think this is year 11. So, yeah we’ve had a lot of ups and downs here,” the 2024 Truck Series champion said to Rob Blount of FloRacing. “I just love the challenge of coming down here. No matter if you’re the reigning champion or not, you know, you come down here with a clean slate and it’s so hard to come down here and be competitive year in and year out.”

Majeski then touched on the history aspect of his run this year in 2024.

“I didn’t know that, that’s crazy. Um, you know, it would be special, you know? My guys and I have been together I think this is our 13th year together now,” Majeski continued. “We love doing this together and that’s why we keep coming down here. We love the camaraderie, we have a great group of guys, and it’s fun for us. When it starts not to become fun you probably won’t see us back here. We love doing this together.”

Rich Bickle is the only driver to have three or more Snowball Derby wins. He collected five in the 1990s. This is a race that Donnie Allison, Darrell Waltrip, Kyle Busch, and Chase Elliott have all won.

Bickle, Augie Grill, and Erik Jones are the only drivers to win back-to-back. Bickle of course, did it twice.

When it comes to the Snowball Derby, it isn’t just another race. While Ty Majeski has been great here in the past, he won’t be a surething to win. A number of NASCAR drivers are participating at Five Flags Speedway this weekend.

You can catch all of the Snowball Derby action during the week on FloRacing.

Ty Majeski joined by other NASCAR talent

While the Craftsman Truck Series champion is one to watch, there are others from the NASCAR ranks. From the Cup Series to Xfinity and Truck Series, NASCAR is well represented at the Snowball Derby.

Noah Gragson, Derek Kraus, Chandler Smith, Carson Kvapil, Sammy Smith, William Sawalich, Dawson Sutton, Gio Ruggiero, Kaden Honeycutt, Jake Garcia, and Conner Jones will all be in the race as well. Other notable names are Luke Fenhaus, Brent Crews, Johnny Sauter, Jake Finch, Caden and Treyten Lapcevich, and David Gilliland.

These names only make up part of the field in the Snowball Derby. Of course, there are short track stars like Bubba Pollard in the field as well. All of them will be competing hard to get into the race and to win it this weekend.

Ty Majeski has a real chance of making short track history at Five Flags. During his career, Majeski has made a name for himself in these races. His big break in NASCAR did not come until he had impressed the right people in his late model. Now he’s ready to impress again.
