Despite a restart violation and pass-through penalty, Ty Majeski goes back-to-back at Indianapolis Raceway Park. For the second year in a row, Majeski wins the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at IRP.

It was not an easy day for Ty Majeski. A restart violation at the end of Stage 3 put him near the tail end of the lead lap. He almost went a lap down, coming off pit road just before the leaders.

That was enough. Majeski stayed on the lead lap, restarted P16 in Stage 2, and then showed he was the best driver with the best truck tonight, and drove back to the front.

I was skeptical, but Majeski gets it done.

This win was not without drama. Corey Heim and Christian Eckes had their own run-in with each other tonight. Throw in the penalty to Majeski and there was a lot going on with this race at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

There is just one more race this regular season for the Truck Series. Richmond Raceway is going to decide the last few spots in the 10-truck field. Nothing like short-track racing with the trucks, it’s always an interesting race with tons of physicality.

Majeski, a driver with a strong short-track background, had been close at times this season. He won the pole and was P2 at Martinsville. There were mistakes made on his part. Then there were moments when Majeski had bad luck.

If Ty Majeski and this ThorSport team hit a heater in the NASCAR Playoffs, they could contend for a championship. All it takes is a ticket to Phoenix and you have a puncher’s chance at least. With Majeski’s short-track background, Phoenix is not out of the question.

Making the Championship 4 is a battle all on its own, though. Majeski has a lot of work to do, but this win relieves a lot of pressure on this driver and team.

This season the Truck Series headlines have been dominated by Corey Heim and Christian Eckes, for good reason. Majeski is letting everyone know that he isn’t out of the conversation.

Eckes has three wins. Heim has five wins. In the playoff system, it doesn’t matter. All it takes is one win to earn the championship.

Tonight, Ty Majeski earned his first win of the season. Christian Eckes swept the stages but came up short. A few weeks off and then it is on to Richmond for the regular season finale.
