Tyler Badie injury: NFL insider shares new update on Broncos RB’s status after collapsing
One of the scarier moments during Week 4’s NFL slate on Sunday involved Denver Broncos running back Tyler Badie.
During the Broncos clash with the New York Jets inside MetLife Stadium, Badie was seen collapsing on the sideline after taking a hit to the lower back area from Jets linebacker Quincy Williams. He walked off the field on his own power before collapsing on the sideline.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton had no update on Badie after the game, which left football fans all around the nation anxiously awaiting an update. However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided one on Monday, and it was positive, all things considered.
“#Broncos promising young RB Tyler Badie, who left yesterday’s game on a backboard, has full movement of his arms and legs and is back in Denver with the team, sources say. Very positive,” Rapoport posted on X. “He did suffer a back injury that may land him on IR, but there is a chance he can be back.”
While an injury is never good news, taking into account the worst fears after seeing Badie collapse, it feels like a major bullet was dodged. Badie only had one carry before leaving Sunday’s game, but Denver was able to pull off a massive upset in his stead.

Moreover, Javonte Williams said running backs coach Lou Ayeni told the group Badie “would be alright, but we know Tyler is a fighter, I just saw him on the ground and went to see how he was.”
Before Sunday’s game, Badie registered 86 yards and 10 carries in two games. He has been with the team since the end of the 2022 season after being selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Before the 2024 season, Badie spent most of his time on the practice squad. He did play in one game during the 2022 season and caught one touchdown pass from Russell Wilson.
With the piece of mind that Tyler Badie will likely recover swiftly, the Denver Broncos can enjoy their move to 2-2, which was majorly unexpected, as they’ve defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and aforementioned Jets in back-to-back weeks. Next up is an all-important return to Denver to face the Las Vegas Raiders.
