Tyler Reddick calls Carson Hocevar a 'dumbass' after wrecking Corey Heim at Phoenix
Just in case anyone was wondering, Tyler Reddick is not a big fan of Carson Hocevar, especially after dumping Corey Heim in the championship race. Hocevar and Heim were putting on a great show, battling for the NASCAR Truck Series title, and then things got messy.
Hocevar got into the back of Heim and sent him spinning. The two were battling for sixth. Tyler Reddick didn’t like the move from Hocevar at all. In fact, he said that the driver would “never learn.”
Well, he said some other stuff, too. On X/Twitter, Reddick said, “This dumbass will never learn,” after the incident. For what it’s worth, bossman Denny Hamlin gave his 23XI Racing driver a retweet.
Now, normally Cup Series drivers wouldn’t have to worry about a Truck Series driver too much. However, Tyler Reddick and the rest of the Cup drivers are going to race Hocevar next season. In just a few months really, he will be lining up at the Daytona 500 against the incoming rookie.
It is hard to believe we’re here in 2023 saying the same things about Hocevar that we’ve been saying for the last few years. He’s young, has a ton of raw speed and talent, a lot of enthusiasm – I’d add he’s very marketable – but he has to make better decisions on track.
While Hocevar spun Heim, the 11 truck was in front of the 42 soon enough. Hocevar seems to have suffered more damage from the bump than Heim did.

Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin agree
So it appears that Reddick agrees with his boss, Denny Hamlin. On his Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin railed against Hocevar for his recent driving in the Cup Series. He’s done great in the Legacy Motor Club car that was once Noah Gragson’s.
Still, he can’t wreck drivers whenever he feels like it or have a lapse in focus.
“There wasn’t much else that caught really my eye, to really bring out, other really than dammit, Carson Hocevar. He’s losing his mind again,” Hamlin said. “I just said last week, I was singing his praises about what he was doing in the Truck Series, but I’ve now seen consecutive weeks in Cup, where he’s driving like an idiot,” Hamlin said. “I come up to lap him, and he’s running into people. He’s pinching people down. I don’t know what he’s doing. He’s got his ride for next year. What is he — you’re just pissing people off for no reason.”
So, are Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin right? Does Carson Hocevar have a lot of growing up to do on the track?
