Tyler Reddick reacts to Kyle Busch winning three races for his old team
Although he used to drive the No. 8 car at Richard Childress Racing before his move to the 23XI team, Tyler Reddick says it’s not weird seeing his old wheels in Victory Lane. He’s also not surprised to see Kyle Busch enjoying so much success during the 2023 season.
Reddick left RCR for 23XI and Busch jumped behind the wheel of the No. 8 car for the team. It’s worked out well for both Busch and Richard Childress Racing. Busch has claimed three checkered flags this season.
But Reddick says he’s not surprised by the success the team is having this year.
“No, no, no, no. There were so many races we gave away last year, honestly — the car had a lot of speed, the team a lot of speed and it’s rolled into this year. So seeing them win three races doesn’t surprise me,” Reddick told FOX Sports.
“I certainly feel like on our side, too, the speed is there to have won that many races. I don’t know why I made it a competition just now because it really shouldn’t be — it’s about us and ourselves. But I am happy for that group. I spent years of my life with the people that are on that team. I’m still good friends with a lot of people on that team. It’s always great to see your friends do well when you can’t necessarily capitalize and have the best day yourself.”
Reddick has also enjoyed his share of success this season, too. The 27-year-old has seven finishes inside the top-10, while also winning one race during the NASCAR regular season.

Kyle Busch is one of NASCAR’s top drivers right now
Right now, there aren’t many enjoying a better run than Busch. The driver of the No. 8 car has been hot recently, finishing inside the top-six in each of his last three races.
Busch drove his car to a sixth-place finish at the Coca-Cola 600 a few weeks ago and followed it up with a win at the Enjoy Illinois 300. Sunday, he crossed the finish line in second place at the Toyota/Save Mart 350.
Through 16 races, Busch has nine finishes in the top-10 with three victories. He also sits at No. 6 in the NASCAR Cup Series standings.
It’s been an impressive three-race stretch for Busch and the No. 8 team. Will that continue this weekend in Nashville, with teams preparing for the Ally 400?
