Tyler Reddick reacts to spinning Daniel Hemric late at the Roval

The Roval race was up and down for Tyler Reddick. At one point it looked like he was going to be eliminated from the NASCAR Playoffs. The 23XI Racing driver willed a damaged car to a P11 finish and a transfer spot into the Round of 8.
Tyler Reddick advanced, but he cut it close. One more mistake and he would have been done in regards to the championship.
Despite his contact with Denny Hamlin that put him in the back of the field, Reddick stayed with it. This was perhaps one of his more impressive performances, especially since he has been at 23XI Racing.
On his charge up through the field, Reddick did spin Daniel Hemric out. Hemric was having himself a great race as well, but his finish of P25 does not reflect that. Reddick actually started to spin out of control and after hitting Hemric’s car was able to continue straight.
It may have saved his race.
“The part that’s not fun is when, as you were talking about the 31, that’s not exactly the plan to getting back to the front is getting together with fellow drivers or people you care about,” Reddick explained, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “But it’s racing, it’s a cutoff race, you’ve gotta make aggressive moves, and you’ve gotta go for it. We had to get those spots. So, I tried to do it as cleanly as possible. Unfortunately, yeah, me and the 31 came together.”

Ultimately, it was the result of a mistake. Tyler Reddick is owning up to it, though.
“Yeah it was definitely a mistake,” the driver continued. “Doesn’t change the fact that it happened, it did, but we had to pass some cars. So, I’ll talk to him about it, I don’t get back the day he was having, but racing can be like that sometimes.
Today the goal was to advance. The 45 team managed to do just that. While they cut it close, it made the race far more exciting late. Kyle Larson ran away with the second half of this race, but the points battle on the cutline was thrilling.
In the end, Tyler Reddick was able to move up enough, and Joey Logano did not finish high enough. That is why the 45 is moving on to the Round of 8 and the 22 is not.
