Tyler Reddick wins Bank of America Roval 400 pole award at Charlotte
With the Jordan Brand Wings Alternate Grape paint scheme, Tyler Reddick has claimed the NASCAR Cup Series pole award for the Roval. Reddick is the pole winner after a red flag was caused by Denny Hamlin with less than a minute to go in qualifying.
Denny Hamlin and Ty Gibbs didn’t complete a lap. Hamlin bounced up and over a turtle bump and spun around. Reddick has another pole award this season. Reddick won the pole award at Richmond this season. It is his first road course pole of the season.
The 23XI Racing group was strong as Bubba Wallace qualified fourth overall. Tyler Reddick on the pole and there is a lot on the line for drivers below the cutline.
Let’s just point out the obvious, Tyler Reddick, Bubba Wallace, and Kyle Busch – all below the cutline. They will each start in the top-5 on Sunday at the Roval. It is a huge turn of events if you are a driver like Kyle Larson or Ross Chastain. Brad Keselowski has to be weary as well.
A rather strong performance for Toyota overall. There is going to be a little bit of chaos before this race is said and done though.

Tyler Reddick leads playoff contenders after qualifying
Right now, we can write off William Byron or Ryan Blaney. They have won, they want to play it cool, get to Las Vegas, and try to win there ahead of Phoenix. Joey Logano wrote the game plan a year ago, now those two teams will try to replicate it.
As for Tyler Reddick, he is under the cutline heading into the race, just two points. Bubba Wallace, starting P4, is nine points under. Then you have Kyle Busch, 26 points under, starting P5. He’s in a must-win situation. This is his first top-5 qualifying effort since the Indy Road Course.
Have the fortunes turned for Busch? Or will this be a Toyota show with 23XI Racing and JGR taking over? Christopher Bell, last year’s winner starts P2. Denny Hamlin is P9 and Martin Truex Jr. P11. That’s a lot of Toyotas in or near the front.
Kyle Larson starts in the rear after wrecking in practice and going to a backup car. The RFK cars, Keselowski and Buescher are starting P19 and P20. While Ross Chastain starts P12, other cars in front of him in points might perform better than him and keep him below the cutline. Don’t sleep on Chase Elliott to act as a spoiler, either.
Sunday is going to be another wild Roval race. By the end, we’ll have our Round of 8.
