Tyler Reddick wins Cook Out 400 pole award at Richmond Raceway
It will be Tyler Reddick on the pole for the Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway. He was quick on that 3/4-mile track. In his Xfinity 10 G Network Toyota, Reddick was as fast as Xfinity 10 G as the NASCAR drivers say. Toyota looks strong in this one. But so does Hendrick.
This was an interesting round of qualifying. Chase Elliott showed that he has speed for this weekend. That could be major as he searches for his first win of the season and first Cup Series win at Richmond. He isn’t on the pole, and he loses his pit stall selection and car chief due to inspection failures, but this is his best shot in the last five weeks to win a race.
While Elliott seems to be turning the corner, Tyler Reddick will lead the field to green on Sunday.
Ty Gibbs was able to get into the top-10 and will have a great starting position. He is on the playoff bubble and is going to try to win his way into the postseason. He has a good history at this track in the Xfinity Series and a P9 finish earlier this season. Could the rookie have a breakthrough on Sunday?
Bubba Wallace, Tyler Reddick’s 23XI Racing teammate was also quick in qualifying. Wallace will start P5 on Sunday in the Cook Out 400.
Tyler Reddick wins first pole award with 23XI
This is the fifth career pole in the Cup Series for Tyler Reddick. It is also his first with 23XI Racing. Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott, Bubba Wallace, Ty Gibbs, Kevin Harvick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Martin Truex Jr. were the top-10. It is a very eclectic top-10 group with some surprises here and there.

It is interesting that Reddick went so fast in that final round. Earlier in the qualifying session, he made contact with the wall with visible damage. However, it doesn’t seem to have done much harm as he sped to a 23.749-second lap in the final round.
With track position, Reddick should be able to pick up points early in this race. If his team and the driver himself avoid pit road mistakes, they will be a favorite to lead from pole to checkered flag.
Tyler Reddick and the Toyotas look strong. Chase Elliott will try to rain on their parade with a surprise win, further complicating the playoff picture for the bubble drivers.
