Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill reiterated Wednesday he wants Miami-Dade police officer Danny Torres to be fired for his handling of Hill’s Sunday detainment for a speeding violation.

Hill, who was pulled over roughly three hours before Miami’s Week 1 home contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars, said Torres not only treated him bad, but “treated my teammates with disrespect.”

“Gone. Gone. Gone. Gone. Gone. He’s gotta go, man,” Hill said, via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team. “In that instant right there, not only did he treat me bad, but he also treated my teammates with disrespect. He had some crazy words towards them and they didn’t even do nothing. Like, what did they do to you? They’re just walking on the sidewalk. He’s got to go, man.”

Tyreek Hill calls for immediate termination of Miami-Dade Police officer that escalated traffic stop

Hill’s attorney, Julius Collins, released a statement on Hill’s behalf Tuesday “demanding” that Torres, who was placed on administrative duties, be “terminated effective immediately.” Torres, a 27-year veteran of the Miami-Dade Police Department, forcibly removed Hill from his car after he handed over his license and then rolled up his window, as shown on the body cam footage of the incident. Officers had threatened Hill to roll it back down or they would remove him from the car themselves. Hill told CNN on Monday that he rolled his window back up because he didn’t want to cause a scene.

After Torres removed Hill from the car, he handcuffed him while kneeling on his back. About a minute later, Torres once again forced Hill to the ground after he was instructed to sit down on the sidewalk.

Tyreek Hill: ‘I will say I could have been better’

Calais Campbell arrived at the scene as Hill was in handcuffs. Torres approached him and told him to leave. After a brief back-and-forth exchange, Torres placed Campbell in handcuffs. Officers placed Campbell in detainment for “disobeying a direct order,” he said after the game. Jonnu Smith was also at the scene, repeatedly told by police to get back in his car and drive away. Torres threatened to give him a ticket.

Hill received a citation for careless driving and a seatbelt violation. He admitted he wishes he conducted himself “a bit differently” Sunday.

“I will say I could have been better,” Hill said. “I could have let down my window in that instant. But the thing about me is, I don’t want attention. I don’t want to be cameras-out, phones-on-you in that moment. But at the end of the day, I’m human. I’ve got to follow rules. I’ve got to do what everyone else would do.

“Now, does that give them the right to literally beat the dog out of me? Absolutely not. But at the end of the day, I wish I could go back and do things a bit differently.”
