Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill expects to lose a little bit of money from his next paycheck. The Miami superstar may have went a tad overboard with a touchdown celebration on Sunday, stealing a phone and recording his own backflip after reaching the end zone against the Panthers.

On the first play out of the 2-minute warning, Hill hauled in a 41-yard touchdown grab to give Miami a 21-14 advantage over Carolina. After crossing the goal line, the receiver swiped a phone from someone nearby, then recorded himself doing a backflip.

Admittedly, it was a pretty unique, fun and hilarious celebration. Well, at least for those non-Panthers fans watching. But Hill expects to receive a fine from the NFL for his actions.

“It was one of those things that kinda happened. I seen the camera, you know, and I just took it from him” Hill said after the game. “And he didn’t want me to take it from him, so I took my shot. I’m just hoping I didn’t lock the phone and the video actually went through.

“I know the NFL is gonna fine me for it. It’s worth it, though. Just being able to create memories I can look back on is always something I think back on each and every time I play this game. Every time I step on the field, I’m gonna try and make it memorable.”

The fine is even more worth it after the Dolphins’ posted a 42-21 win over the Panthers to improve to 5-1. Miami overcame an early 14-0 deficit to get their fifth victory of the season.

Hill ended Sunday’s game with an impressive 163 yards on six catches. He recorded an average of 27.2 yards per catch.

NFL slaps Tyreek Hill with fine for not wearing socks

Unfortunately for Hill, this wouldn’t be his first encounter with a fine from the league. Earlier this season, the NFL fined the receiver for not wearing socks a few weeks ago during Miami’s win over Denver.

Hill explained the situation while speaking with The Palm Beach Post.

“I got fined, though, for my socks,” he said. “So, in the Broncos game, the first touchdown, I didn’t have any socks on at all. But I was getting an IV and I didn’t want to be late for the play. So I didn’t have time to put on my socks.”

Apparently, the NFL takes its equipment infractions quite seriously. A $7,000 fine for not wearing socks seems a bit … excessive. But Hill plans to fight back against the hefty penalty.

“I’m appealing and when I appeal it’s probably going to get reduced,” Hill said.

Maybe Hill should get a bonus for playing without socks. If you’ll recall, Miami’s game against Denver was the one of historic proportions. The Dolphins embarrassed the Broncos in a 70-20 contest, one of the highest-scoring games in the league’s lifespan.

Hill finished the game with 157 yards and a touchdown on nine catches. He averaged an impressive 17.4 yards per catch in the victory. And, apparently, he did some of that without having to wear socks.
