Tyreek Hill traffic citations dismissed after incident with Miami-Dade PD
The traffic citations issued to Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill after an altercation with police in September have been dismissed after the officers didn’t attend a court hearing, according to multiple reports.
Hill was issued tickets for careless driving and failing to wear a seatbelt. Both tickets were dismissed after the Miami-Dade County Police officers missed the Monday hearing. The tickets were issued after Hill was stopped by police at Hard Rock Stadium for allegedly speeding on Sept. 8, hours before the team’s season opener.
Body camera footage showed Tyreek Hill speeding past two motorcycle officers who were monitoring traffic outside the stadium. They pulled him over and tapped on his window. After Hill gave the officers his license, he told them, “Don’t knock on my window like that.”
The verbal exchange escalated and the officers pulled Hill out of his McLaren sports car. The Super Bowl champion receiver was then placed on the ground face-first before he was stood up. But then, an officer dragged him into a sitting position on the curb after he said a knee injury made that difficult. Hill was then issued the citations and allowed to get ready for the game. One officer was placed on administrative duty, and an internal affairs investigation was launched.

Tyreek Hill details the incident with Miami-Dade County officers
After the incident, Hill appeared on CNN to tell his side of the story. “When the officer came up and knocked on my window, I let my window down. Cooperated, gave them my ID and then I immediately let up my window,” Hill said. “And then after that, I let back up my window. And then he came back to the window and was like, ‘Let your window down now. Let your window down now.’ And then I let it down and that’s when he said, ‘If you don’t let your window down, I’m gonna snatch you out the car.’ I was like, ‘Sir, my window is down like what do you want?’
“I’m not trying to cause a scene. Because if I let my window down, people driving by, walking by, they’re gonna notice that it’s me. And they gonna start taking pictures and I didn’t wanna create a scene at all. Like, I just really wanted to get the ticket and then just go on about my way. And then just have a great Sunday. I really could have just kept going to the stadium. But I really just pulled to the side just chilling because I was that close to the stadium. I was that close to the player’s entry-level.”
In the season opener, Hill caught seven passes for 130 yards and one touchdown in the Dolphins’ 20-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. This year, the 30-year-old has caught 49 passes for 571 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games.
