Tyrie Cleveland provides update on injury suffered at Broncos minicamp Monday
After Denver Broncos receiver Tyrie Cleveland had to be carted off the field upon suffering a leg injury at the team’s minicamp on Monday, he provided an update on his health via Twitter. Thankfully for fans of the Broncos, he brought good news.
“I’m okay everyone! MRI came back good. I appreciate y’all,” Cleveland wrote.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the team initially feared that Cleveland may have suffered damage to his Achilles. However, the actual injury was later revealed to be a sprained ankle.
The Broncos selected Cleveland in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft and he finished his rookie season with six catches for 63 yards. He has appeared in 17 games over the past two seasons primarily on special teams.
Prior to his NFL career, Cleveland was a four-star recruit and the No. 62 overall player in the 2016 class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. He went on to become a four-year contributor in Gainesville and helped lead the team to an Orange Bowl victory in his senior season. He ended his Gators career with a total of 79 catches, 1,271 yards and eight touchdowns.

The expectations are high for Denver entering 2022. The team traded for former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson this offseason and expects it to greatly improve the passing game. The Broncos aerial attack that ranked just 19th in the NFL this past season, but features some talented young receivers in Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton.
Denver has not been to the playoffs since 2015, when it won the Super Bowl with Peyton Manning at quarterback. Coming off of a 7-10 finish this past season, they expect to change that in 2022.
Denver is set to open the season on Sept. 12 against Wilson’s former team in Seattle. Thanks to the update from Tyrie Cleveland on his injury, we now know that he should be ready to go for that one as well.
