New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. bursted onto the scene last season during his rookie campaign, becoming a huge part of the franchise’s future after being selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Now, Tracy is looking ahead to finding out which quarterback will be handing him the football in 2025, after the Giants moved on from longtime signal-caller Daniel Jones after a disappointing two seasons following an extension they gave him off the back of 2022.

There’s a bevy of avenues the team could take — free agency is an option, as well as exploring a trade for a quarterback. That could yield the Giants players like Sam Darnold, Justin Fields, Derek Carr or Kirk Cousins. However, the most likely scenario is the franchise looking towards the 2025 NFL Draft, and the third overall selection for their future signal-caller.

There’s no guarantee the Giants will have their pick of the litter, but the two options linked to them more than anyone have been Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward. Speaking with Brandon London, the soon-to-be sophomore running back actually chose Ward, believing he would fit the team’s offense better than Sanders.

“Who do I think? I mean, to be honest with you, I’m a fan of Cam Ward,” Tracy told London, via New York Post Sports. “I think that the passing and the running, I think that’s where the league is shifting to. Just off of Dabes [Brian Daboll], his offense. We have a whole bunch of QB runs. We have a whole bunch of like, situations where the QB has to run. Not saying other quarterbacks in the draft can’t run. I just know that Cam Ward is the best, off of film and stuff like that. He’s my favorite.

“This is opinionated. But at the same time, whoever they choose to pick — obviously, my opinion holds zero weight. I do want to put that out there. My opinion holds zero weight.”

As Tracy made sure to point out, he would be satisfied with Sanders as well, or any direction the Giants decide to move for that matter. They could always pass on both quarterbacks and address it later in the draft, with Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart and Alabama’s Jalen Milroe as intriguing options, as well.

All told, the Giants are one of the more fascinating teams when it comes to the 2025 NFL Draft. Their pick could be the turning point of the night, but Tyrone Tracy Jr. will have to wait until April like the rest of us to see which way they turn.
