Tyson Campbell signs record-breaking contract extension with Jacksonville Jaguars
Jaguars cornerback Tyson Campbell is rolling into training camp with a hefty new contract.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Tuesday that the Jaguars and Campbell agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $76.5 million. Of that $53.4 million is guaranteed.
The money is so good that Campbell became the highest-paid cornerback in league history who had yet to make a Pro Bowl.

Campbell’s contract averages out to $19.125 million per year. Campbell’s deal ranks tops for cornerback contracts agreed to this year. He edged out L’Jarius Sneed and the $19.1 million average per year he agreed to with the Titans. Campbell is also the sixth highest-paid cornerback.
The Jaguars corner isn’t too far from the top. If you’re curious how the numbers compare, Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander is the highest paid at the position. He makes $21 million a year. Denzel Ward of the Browns is second at $20.1 million. Miami’s Jalen Ramsey earns $20 million, with Marlon Humphrey of the Ravens at $19.5 million. Marshon Lattimore (Saints) and Trevon Diggs each earn $19.4 million, which is fifth best in the NFL.
The Jaguars signed Campbell, a former Georgia star, with the first pick of the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

And Jacksonville has rewarded several of its players with big, big money. Earlier in the summer, the Jaguars signed Trevor Lawrence to a deal that tied him with Joe Burrow for highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. The contract pays an average of $55 million a year. However, in Lawrence’s case, the money doesn’t kick in until 2025.
Meanwhile, the Jaguars also signed ace pass rusher Josh Hines-Allen to a five-year, $141.25 million deal. The contract is worth an average of $28.25 million. That puts him second to Nick Bosa ($34 million) amongst league pass rushers.
Circling back to Campbell, the Jaguars knew his value, although he missed a chunk of last season with a hamstring injury. His best season was 2022, when he tallied three interceptions, while posting 15 pass break ups. He also recovered two fumbles and made 70 tackles.
